Build a car out of parts, then wreck everyone else's. Twisted Retro Rally is arcade car combat where every car is made of real pieces with real weight: panels, rails, engines, tanks, guns. A hit folds the car in where it landed. A panel shot off is gone, and so is its weight, so a car missing its nose drives like one.

This is the first playable alpha. It runs in your browser and takes about twenty minutes.

In this build

  • A campaign road through three arenas: a board-track bowl under the lights, a salvage yard with a crane that wants your roof, and twin parking garages stacked three decks high.
  • Five hidden goals in every level. Find three and you win a car; find all five and you win another: six cars to win in this build, from a pink convertible to a monster truck.
  • Free Play in any arena you have reached, against up to seven bots at five difficulties.
  • Twelve weapons, from wing-mounted machine guns to a railgun, mines and jump jets.
  • An announcer, a soundtrack for every arena, keyboard or controller, rebindable.

Not in this build

Split screen, online play, building your own car (the Garage shows how it works), and the last three arenas. The menus say which is which.

Tell me

What would help most, in order: where you stopped playing and why, anything you couldn't work out how to do, a car that felt much better or worse than the rest, and anything that broke. Comments are open.

Made with Babylon.js and Box3D. Some art and the announcer's voice were generated on a local GPU; the music and every sound effect are synthesized by the game's own code.
